Smart home system

Smart home system

Many of you have probably heard the expression “smart home”, and now our customers can experience for themselves, in our show home, what a truly smart home is really like. Although the expression smart home is a popular buzzword these days, property developers have a different understanding of what it really means. For some, smart home compliance is nothing more than giving customers a cheap central unit and letting them do whatever they can with it (typically not too much). For others, a smart home means that lights, smart sockets and sensors are operated by an application installed on mobile phones, however many just do not quite understand what purpose all these serve.
For, smart home is a truly intelligent system that controls the electric appliances, lights, heating of the apartment thus making the homes we build more convenient and energy efficient. A home will not be a smart home just because one can use a mobile phone each time one wants to switch something on or off but if the system can work seamlessly and continuously, without the need for intervention or adjusting the settings all the time. Our customers can therefore occupy a home equipped with basic smart home functionality that is operational in every sense of the word and which they can further expand. Our partner’s support is available for future expansions of the system.

Smart home system, apartments

The smart home system we have designed for our apartments is an easy to use and easy to expand smart home solution that makes our homes more convenient and energy efficient at the same time. The system is an open one, the elements can be replaced and the system expanded with other smart devices as needed thanks to Z-Wave and Z-Wave plus, the most popular communications standards already used by thousands of smart home products and supported by most of the manufacturers. TouchWand,  smart home system consists of the following units.

Central unit

The central element of the system is the TouchWand control unit, the various sensors, switches and other elements are connected to this. This unit controls the smart home system; the different smart home elements are connected to it and the system connects to the internet through the central unit. The device may be installed above the entrance door next to the modem of the communications service provider or in any of the rooms of the apartment.

Control panel

Using the 5” TouchWand touch screen mounted on the wall of the living room or the ante-room you can control the basic functions, toggle between the different modes (day, night, outside of the home, vacation) even without internet connection. With a single touch, you can raise or lower the temperature, raise or lower all the window blinds at once. The current temperature of the apartment can be checked on the display.

Smart thermostat

All radiators are equipped with smart thermostats. Using the buttons on the thermostats you can easily raise or lower the temperature, which can be checked on the digital display. The same can be done remotely, using a mobile phone or a computer. Normally however, the smart home system automatically controls the heating, individually in each room if needed, according to needs and habits of the residents.

Open/close sensors

The system detects the open/close status of each of the windows and balcony doors, which you can also easily check remotely. Based on the information received form these sensors the smart home system decides when to turn heating on and off. Additional programs can be linked to the sensors.

Smart lighting

There is a relay installed behind each of the light switches of the apartment and connected to the smart home system. Looking at them, these light switches appear to be no different from traditional light switches, and they are operated the same way. However, the smart home system always knows whether a lamp is switched on and can manage lighting according to your commands given remotely.

Motion sensor

The motion sensors located in the entrance hall detect movement within the area defined in the settings. Using this sensor, the smart home system knows when someone gets home and, if needed, sends information on this to a mobile phone, working as kind of a simple alarm system. Its basic function however is to provide data that helps the smart home system control lighting, heating and other user installed devices (blinds, media center, etc.).

Smart blinds

Depending on the configuration, smart blinds or smart blind preparations (concealed case, electric outlet) may be part of the system. For detailed information on the configuration of the apartment of your choice, please consult the description. Smart blinds may be ordered in each of our buildings. Shading of the apartment is also a function that can be automated and adjusted to the needs of the residents relatively easily. The season of the year, time of the day, sunlight (illumination), weather forecast (i.e. a thunderstorm is expected) or whether someone is in the apartment are all pieces of information helping the operation of smart blinds.
